VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System
Mental Health Summit
Addressing Veteran Aging and Caregiver Issues, Women’s Health, and Suicide Prevention
Since 2013, VHA has initiated annual VA-Community Mental Health Summits to enhance visibility and collaboration with community organizations. The events also serve to expand comprehensive care networks for Veterans and their families that could broaden available resources and programs beyond what the VHA could provide. As such, VA-Community Mental Health Summits are venues that target issues of national importance (e.g., suicide prevention), as well as issues that are important locally (e.g., Veteran Aging, Women’s Health, etc.).
This year’s VA-Community Mental Health Summit is scheduled for Friday, September 8th 2017 from 9am-3:30pm in the VA Ann Arbor Medical Center’s newly renovated Auditorium. The event is open to everyone and will focus on topics addressing 1) Veteran Aging and Caregiving, 2) Women’s Health, and 3) Suicide Prevention. The event will include VA and community organizations that provide services in each of the topic areas. Additionally, there will be a variety of presentations focusing on clinical care options, research, and Veteran panel discussions.
The event is free and refreshments will be provided. We hope you and your family will consider attending, learning something new, and sharing your thoughts with us concerning the event. If you would like additional information or would like to get involved with future events please contact C. Beau Nelson, Ph.D. at 734-222-7452.
