VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System

VLER Frequently Asked Questions

Is my information secure?

Yes.  VLER Health shares certain parts of your health record over a secure network known as the eHealth Exchange (eHE).  This network was designed to ensure that patient’s health information is secure and confidential.

I only receive care from the VA, so why should I participate?

Unfortunately, accidents and unforeseen events happen.  When they do, VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System might not be the closest hospital for emergency care.  In an emergency, immediate access to any additional health care information could save your life.

Is all of my health information shared?

No, at this time only select parts of your record from the VA are shared, like: allergies, medications, immunizations, problem list, vital signs, procedures, encounters. The VA plans to continue to add more information in the future, we hope by sharing your health information we are able to create a better picture of your overall health and improve your care.

What if I decide to stop sharing my Health Information?

That’s no problem.  There is a revocation form (VA Form 10-0485) that you fill out and return to your VAMC to stop sharing your health information.
