VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System Partners with Hire MI Vet to Help Veterans and their Families Find Employment

ANN ARBOR - The VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System has joined with several community partners to develop Hire MI Vet, a community initiative developed to help Veterans and their families gain meaningful employment by hosting job fairs and other events.  Hire MI Vet's first annual job fair is being held at Washtenaw Community College's Morris Lawrence Building (4800 E. Huron River Drive Ann Arbor, MI 48105) on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. preceded by an employer panel discussion from 9:15 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. where participating employers will provide Veterans and their families tips on how to market themselves to employers.  In addition to meeting with employers, attendees will have an opportunity to connect with Veteran-specific community resources.

In preparation for the job fair, Hire MI Vet is also offering a job fair Prep Day for Veterans and their families on Thursday, October 22, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Michigan Works! (304 Harriet St. Ypsilanti, MI 48197).  Veterans and their families may receive assistance with resume preparation and engage in mock interviews as well as receive haircut vouchers, bus tokens, and vouchers for interview clothing.
