VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System
VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System (VAAAHS) will host a 2K Walk and Roll on May 20, at 11:00 a.m. to encourage healthy activity while supporting homeless Veterans by donating food and clothing items.
The VA2K Walk and Roll is free and open to employees, Veterans, and the general public. VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System’s VA2K will be held at all four our locations (Ann Arbor, Flint, Jackson and Toledo) at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Pre-registration is not required and those interested in participating should plan to arrive no later than 10:30 a.m.
“Worksite wellness activities enhance employee engagement and contribute to a more productive and healthy workforce,” said Robert P. McDivitt, VAAAHS Director. “Last year, we had 602 participants and received $14,960 in donations for Homeless Veterans, and we expect to surpass those numbers this year.”
In conjunction with the event, VA Voluntary Services will inform participants of VA’s willingness to accept gifts and the need for in-kind gifts for homeless Veterans. However, there is no requirement for a donation in order to participate.
The event is open to people of all fitness levels and can be done over a lunch break. Whether you team up with a coworker, a friend, or participate on your own, there’s no better time to step up your fitness level and help improve the lives of homeless Veterans.
