National Medical Laboratory Week

CELEBRATING NATIONAL LABORATORY WEEK

The American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science started Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (MLPW) in 1975. Now celebrating their 42nd year of MLPW there are about 300,000 Medical Laboratory Professionals nationwide.

National Lab week is April 23-29. It is an annual celebration that aims to increase awareness and appreciation of clinical laboratory professionals who play an important role in VA Ann Arbor Health Care System. Clinical laboratory professionals are working hard behind the scenes, educating members of the medical team while performing critical testing every day. 

As medical technologists, we know that 80 percent of all diagnoses are based upon lab results. Even though we are behind the scenes for patient care, we find great satisfaction in knowing that our work aids in the diagnosis and treatment of our Veterans.
