VA2K improving health, helping homeless Veterans
VAAAHS to Host VA2K to Promote Health and Wellness and Support Homeless Veterans
VA employees can take a step toward better health by participating in the 7th Annual VA2K Walk & Roll event on May 17.
The VA2K is a short two-kilometer or 1.2 mile walk which takes around 20 minutes and can be easily completed during a lunch break.
The VA2K is also about helping homeless Veterans.
Event participants are encouraged to make voluntary donations. Each location has a list of suggested items to donate available for participants. These items will be collected and distributed to local homeless Veterans. Donations are not required to participate. Since 2011, donations of these type valued at more than $1.73 million have been raised for homeless Veterans.
Walking is a great way to start a physically active lifestyle. It doesn’t require any special skills, gym membership or expensive equipment – just a good pair of shoes.
