VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System
2017 Complementary and Integrative Health Fair
VA Ann Arbor Health System (VAAAHS) hosts 2nd Annual Complementary and Integrative Health Fair Thursday, October 19th from 10AM to 2PM.
Complementary and integrative healthcare is an integral component of the VA’s Whole Health Initiative – a new style of care that aims to empower and equip Veterans to take ownership of their health and well-being, and to live fulfilling lives. The Whole Health approach incorporates every aspect of life that affects our health and well-being and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches with an emphasis on self-care.
Complementary and integrative medicine consists of typically non-mainstream treatments that can be used to supplement and enhance standard medical treatment. Popular examples include: acupuncture, aroma therapy, massage therapy, meditation, mindfulness training, and yoga.
VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System will highlight these treatments and others during its 2nd Annual Complementary and Integrative Health Fair where participants will receive an introduction to the benefits of complementary healthcare practices through information-sharing, demonstrations, and hands-on experiences.
