Visiting Hours and Policies
Because family and friends are important to a patient’s recovery, visiting hours are based on the care needs and preferences of the patient. Except for inpatient Psychiatry, we do not restrict visiting hours. Visitors are encouraged to discuss any special visiting needs with the unit’s nurse manager or charge nurse.
If you are unable to visit a patient personally, you may call the patient or send a card or gift.
Number of Visitors
For the Intensive Care Units and Emergency Department, no more than two visitors at a time are preferred.
Food, Medicine, and Beverages
We request that visitors not bring beverages or medicines to patients without authorization from the patient’s physicians or nurses.
Children Under 12 Years of Age
Children under 12 are not permitted to visit patients on the units. Patients with conditions permitting them to leave the unit may visit with friends and family, including children, in other areas of the medical center such as the lobby, canteen, or waiting rooms. Exceptions will be made for younger children to visit seriously ill or terminally ill patients on a unit with adult supervision. To make these arrangements, please speak to the nurse manager or charge nurse. Children under 12 years of age must have adult supervision while in the facility.
Exceptions
The attending physician may limit, restrict, or deny visitation for a patient’s health and well-being; we appreciate your understanding when this occurs. In addition, visitors should not come to the medical center if they themselves are ill.
