Veteran Education

The staff at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System have provided a number of ways for you to learn how to live a healthy lifestyle and self-manage your own health.

Veteran Education Center

Our Veteran Health Education (VHE) Resource Center, conveniently located on the first floor, is open to all Veterans and their families. The VHE Resource Center offers KRAMES on Demand. An electronic portal where you can download and print off up to date and timely health education information.  The VHE Resource Center also offers computer terminals with internet access available for your use both as an inpatient and/or outpatient. The VHE staff can assist or show you how to log on and/or initiate internet searches if needed.

The VHE Resource Center also offers the following computer classes at no charge:

  • Basic Computer I: Mouse and Introduction to Keyboarding
  • Basic Computer II: Keyboarding Principles and Introduction to Word
  • Basic Computer III: My Healthe Vet
  • Computer IV: Surfing the Net – For Beginners
  • Computer V: E-Mail Accounts Made Realistically Simple
  • Computer VI: EXCEL
  • Computer VII: PowerPoint the Easy Way
  • Computer VIII: How to Write a Winning Resume

Only computer classes V through VIII require some computer knowledge. For more information about the availability of specific computer classes offered and/or to reserve a seat, please contact the VHE Resource Center:

My HealtheVet

The My HealtheVet site provides veterans and their families excellent, reliable patient education information as well as the latest VA News. Information about veterans benefits and services is also available.

Upon registering with My HealtheVet, you will be able to —

  • refill prescriptions online
  • view your appointments online
  • view your chemistry/hematology lab test results online
  • send secure messages to your participating healthcare teams
  • keep personal food and activity journals
  • monitor your personal health data, such as blood pressure and pain levels
  • maintain your own self-entered personal health record
