Program Overview
The VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System offers a one-year General Practice Residency (GPR) in Dentistry. The GPR dental program is fully accredited by the American Dental Association and is affiliated with the University of Michigan Hospital and the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.
Our educational program operates within a comprehensive health care system committed to delivering high quality medical and dental care to a wide range of patients including medically compromised outpatients and hospitalized inpatients. The VA is a national leader in providing advanced education to health care providers.
This program offers a year of opportunity to gain experience in treating a wide variety of patients including routine and advanced restorative procedures, endodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, implants, prosthodontics, and complex reconstructive cases. By working daily with experienced faculty and participating in the didactic activities, the resident will become proficient in clinical judgment, clinical skills and medical risk assessment. Two distinct advantages of the VA program are the abundance and variety of clinical opportunities, and that finances are not a limiting factor in a patient’s treatment options.
Beginning July 2011, the Ann Arbor VA will be offering an optional 2nd year in our General Practice Residency in Dentistry, for more information please contact Dr. Deb DesRosiers, Program Director.
Thank you for your interest in our program. We welcome and encourage you to visit our facility.
